Baseball isn’t the only season opener causing a stir in southwest Washington. The Chesapeake Bay crab season began on April 1, which means business at the fish wharf is picking up. For decades the wharf at Maine Avenue, SW, has been a popular destination for people looking for crabs and other seafood.
A $1.1 billion development project will transform the southwest waterfront into a tourist attraction. It will teem with hotels, condos, offices, shops and restaurants. But feelings are mixed about whether the fish wharf should be changed at all.
