Vietnam Veterans' Memorial turns 25

Representations of resistance

Over a century after abolitionist Henry Highland Garnet uttered the words "let your motto be resistance" the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History, is hosting an exhibit that consists of portraits of African Americans who embodied the motto.

Highlights of the exhibition include portraits Henry Highland Garnet, W.E.B. Du Bois, Frederick Douglas and many more.
