Washington residents celebrated Halloween early with a “zombie lurch.”
People came to the Washington Monument dressed as zombies in an attempt to break the world record number of people dancing to Michael Jackson’s 1980s hit song “Thriller.” About 100 people of all ages participated the event.
After the “Thriller” dance, the zombies planned to haunt the city, making stops throughout D.C., including L’Enfant plaza.
Renee Maynard, the event organizer for the district, said she had already planned the zombie lurch, but added the “Thriller” dance to the plan after learning about it on the website Thrill the World.
