Over the past few weeks, The American Observer has received numerous contributions for its Thursday edition. While some of the past contributors were from the American University community, many of the others were local freelancers or graduate students on the West Coast.
For our first edition, we were privileged to publish poetry by Fernando Perez, a poet from Long Beach, Calif., who attends Arizona State University. Perez is working towards a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and completing a manuscript of poetry.
Some of the contributors also submitted essays on their personal experiences. Rebecca Carbaugh, a graduate student at East CarolinaUniversity, contributed an essay about her time as a teacher in Mexico.
Samuel Crawford Jr., a freelancer who lives in Suitland,
Md., also submitted an essay and a poem, after covering the D.C. War Protest and visiting a Smithsonian museum.
This week we have expanded our poetry contribution section titled Verses. We are privileged to publish poetry by Petra Stockhaus, a cosmetologist who lives in Richmond, Va. Other poetry contributors are undergraduate and graduate students studying at AU.
If you would like to contribute poetry or an essay, e-mail us at: americanobserver@gmail.com. We look forward to receiving your contributions.
Coming soon in next week’s Thursday edition: The Metro Way of Life… “Just Going With the Flow!” By Samuel Crawford Jr.
