Amina Holland, the office manager of Diamond Cab in Washington, D.C., said when the meter system is implemented, cab drivers at Diamond Cab will suffer a pay cut.
Holland said the meter system has its pros and cons.
“Yes, we should be up to date,” she said. But, “it is really hard to say. Eventually, change is good, but at the same time it should be that drivers are able to maintain a living.”
Holland said there needs to be some type of compromise between Mayor Adrian M. Fenty, cab drivers and Congress.
Holland takes a cab daily for her commute from Landover, Md. to downtown D.C. She said it costs her $26 a day with the Maryland meter system.
