The National Zoo was turned into a trick or treaters’ paradise the weekend before Halloween. Some kids went as their favorite cartoon characters, while some parents dressed babies like bumble bees and spiders for the 4th annual “Boo at the Zoo” event.
The event was presented by Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ). Tickets went fast and sold out for all three nights. Thousands of children in costumes went trick or treating to over fifty different stations, where several volunteers passed out snacks and candy, and others participated in hands-on exhibits. One of the most popular things to see at the zoo was the Pumpkin Stomp, where kids watched elephants playfully crush pumpkins.
The event proved to be both educational and fun for children, leaving them wanting more.
