Annie Leibovitz at the Corcoran Gallery of Art
View more than 200 photographs from famed photographer Annie Leibovitz when the Corcoran Gallery of Art opens her show, Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990-2005, on Saturday, Oct. 13.
View some of Leibovitz’s most famous portraits of celebrities and public figures, ranging from Nicole Kidman to President George W. Bush and his cabinet. Some of the photographer’s post-9/11 work is also on display.
The show runs through Jan. 13, 2008. Tickets can be purchased online at the Corcoran’s Web site
Learn About Energy Conservation
Head over to the National Mall to take a tour through a “solar village” comprised of houses running purely on solar energy. The exhibit is part of the Department of Energy’s 2007 solar decathlon. The village features homes built by 20 college teams competing to win the best overall prize. The DOE recommends you take two days to visit all the houses.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 20, but will be closed on Oct. 17. The winner will be announced on Oct. 19.
DAM! Festival on the H Street Corridor
Head on over to the Rock and Roll Hotel on the historic H Street Corridor for the District’s Awake Music (DAM!) Festival. Festivities start Oct. 11 and run through Oct.15.
For $12 on Friday, you can catch bands such as The Exit, Dragons of Zynth, The Teeth, and The Beanstalk Library. Doors open at 9 p.m. If you’re feeling stingy, there’s a free after party featuring a DJ-duel.
On Saturday, head to the Rock and Roll Hotel at 8:30 p.m. to pick up your ticket for $15. Catch Craig Wedren, iLIKETRAINS, Metropolitan, and Time of Orchids. A free DJ’d party will commence after the show.
