A makeover could be in the works for the
Verizon Center
Ticket prices may increase to pay for possible facelift
D.C.’s Verizon Center sports arena is slated to receive $50 million in renovations under a new bill proposed by the D.C. Council. The bond project would give the 10-year-old sports complex a new scoreboard and other upgrades. To recoup money from the issuance of bonds, the legislation calls for a 4.25 percent tax hike on ticket receipts. The arena is home to the NBA’s Washington Wizards and the NHL’s Washington Capitals.
